Wow, it’s been a long time since I last used my blog. Almost a year. I will really try to keep you guys updated more often from now on. I will also make a bit of a redesign of my site, the blue on top with my logo looks just terrible.
That said, I released my new game e7! You can play it here: playe7.com or go check it out on Newgrounds.
It got the daily feature there, and an amazing score of 4.22!
It has also gotten quite a bit of attention by the indie games community:
“e7 is lovingly understated and beautiful, from the rush of wind and light piano track that convey a simultaneous sense of isolation and hope, to the silhouetted foreground scenery overlaying a distant and imaginative landscape. The gameplay is simple, to be sure, but the central mechanic is fun to learn, tricky to master, and wholly satisfying once you’ve reigned it in. ”
Since my old webhost kicked me, I’m now switching to MediaTemple. I uploaded and got everything running on their servers already, so the only thing I’m waiting for, is that my registrar changes the nameservers.
What this means for you; Faster loading games and no more downtime!
I also changed the “Popular Games” list to update weekly based on the amount of plays for each week rather for all time. So go play some games!
I haven’t wrote anything for a long time, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not doing anything. The last months has actually been a very busy month. I released my new game “Deep”, getting my first sponsorship ever . As said in the previous post it is a mix between strategy and shooter.
Deep
“Dive deep into the colorful atmosphere and get ready to conquer the ocean. Deep is a game that combines both the shooter and strategy genre. You have to fight your way from the top to the bottom of the ocean in 15 challenging levels. An underwater clash of creatures that doesn’t only rely on your shooter skills, but also makes you think strategically.”
You can play it here: http://www.jgames.ch/games/Deep/
It got a JayIsGames.com review and won the weekly 3rd prize on Kongregate.com. It also won a free copy of KindiSoft’s SecureSWF Professional Edition worth $400. Finally I can protect my games from flash pirates!
Also, my game Pwong 2 finally got badges on Kongregate. It actually concluded the EPIC WEEK event on Kong, being the highlight of it! So it got over half a million plays on Kongregate alone. If you haven’t played it yet you can play it here: http://www.jgames.ch/games/Pwong-2/
I also made a fairly large update to the site jgames.ch, some of the new features include:
URL Redirecting(games and categories): So instead of http://www.jgames.ch/play.php?id=100 the url is: http://www.jgames.ch/games/Free-Rider-2/ Which is much easier to remember.
A brand new logo, and a new header, now with a link to my nice little blog
a portfolio where you see only the game that I made.
I took away the old looking gray. My site is now black on white.
JGames just hit 250’000 gameplays on all games . But since my site got too many views in the past months my webhost decided to kick me, so I’ll have to find a better one. Which means that I will have to put ads beside the games, since I will now have to fully pay for every GB bandwidth I’m using .
Here’s a little graph of the pageviews that JGames is getting:
(spiking to nearly 200’000 pageview in a single week!!!)
Anyway, that was quite a big post. I have a lot of game ideas, but really don’t know where to start. What would you guys like to see? An epic battle game, fast paced real time strategy or a relaxing puzzle?
I was almost finished with Pwong 2 a few months ago, when my computer suddenly crashed and the fla file got corrupted. I had to buy soThink swf decompiler to decompile my game, but I still had to work on it quite a bit to get it to the state it was before.
Well, here it is. Took a bit longer to make than expected, but it runs much faster then Pwong 1 and has many new game modes such as Multiplayer. You can upgrade your paddle and earn achievements. I tried to make the design as futuristic as possible. Sort of cool having a futuristic looking retro game .
You can play it here.
Theres also a cooler pause function, so it’s easier to take cool screenshots:
And best of all, it’s my birthday today!!! A nice little present for myself.
I Just wanted to tell you that you’ll have to wait a bit longer for Pwong 2. My system crashed when my computer was on low battery and then shut down completely when I was working on Pwong 2, which resulted in a corrupted file that couldn’t be opened in any way . I never had this happen to me ever before, and I didn’t backup my computer for 2 weeks. But luckily I still had the .swf file. So I had to buy a decompiler to retrieve all my work back. So now my .fla is a bit messed up, but at least I got it back. I won’t work on Pwong 2 for a while though, it may take about another month or two before I’m going to work on it again.
Thats the bad news, the good news is that I now have Flash CS4 and have another cool game idea on my mind. I even made a little Video of Pwong:
So, one Month after release Pwong reached over a million plays on the whole web.
Here’s a list of some major achievements:
03/19/2009: Pwong was released on Newgrounds. First it’s score was around a 3.6 so I was a bit disappointed, but then over night it rose to a 4.0.
03/20/2009: Pwong is awarded the “Daily 3rd Place” on Newgrounds. So it spread out to some sites, but nothing spectacular.
03/21/2009: Pwong got frontpaged on Newgrounds. And then everything kicked in, a lot of popular sites like notdoppler and bubblebox added it.Also the score rose to a 4.2 .
03/25/2009: Pwongis the weekly 3rd best game on Newgrounds, which lead to it being played even more. It once even got 100’000 plays in a single day.
03/27/2009: Pwong has been played over half a million times around the web.
04/14/2009: Pwong went live on Armor Games.
04/15/2009: Pwong reaches ONE MILLION plays around the whole web!!
Also a lot of people have been e-mailing me about the song used in the game. The song is a Popcorn remix by the talented EON. You can listen to it and download it here: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/133937
I already started developing the second one, and I hope to release it by the end of next week. Here’s of screenshot of the menu I have to far:
